This week, we went to the "movies"! The children were excited to share their experience of watching a movie and their favourite movie characters. We also looked at pictures of past and present movie theatres, discussed the different places in the theatre and most importantly, the do's and don'ts when in the theatre.
Next, the classroom was transformed into a movie theatre. The children role-played pretending to buy the tickets at the ticketing booth. They learnt to ask for their tickets politely by indicating the name of the movie and the number of tickets they would like to purchase. I was glad to hear them say "please" and "thank you".
When they entered the theatre, the children had to look for their correct numbered seats. They helped each other out and quietened down when it was finally time for the movie to start. They watched two clips - one in colour and the other in black and white and later made comparisons. Guess which clip they enjoyed? A black and white Charlie Chaplin's movie!
