学习量词/Collective nouns

这学期我们围绕“动物”的主题来讨论学习，这周我们学习了使用量词来说短句，比如：一（头）猪、两（只）鸭子、三（匹）马，从学习中延伸出更多的量词。我们也学习了故事：《充气猪》，理解了当我们遇到困难时，我们要开动脑筋去解决问题，帮助需要帮助的人，从中我们会收获到很多的好朋友。最后，孩子们自由选择喜欢的动物，并动手去创作它们。
Our topic for Term 4 Week 2 was Animals. We used collective nouns to make short sentences in Mandarin. We also read the story about a pig and from the story, we learnt that when we are faced with difficult situations, we have to think of ways to solve them. We should help others in need and then we will have many good friends. After the story, the children made an animal craft.

F1 fever

F1 Fever!

F1 fever zoomed into our class today! It was transformed into a race circuit with five different lanes for the race cars. The children took turns to be the drivers and spectators.

Once the race started, there was no holding the drivers back as they ‘drove’ their race cars to the finish line and what an amazing race it was! The cheering spectators were then given the duty of labelling the cars “1st”', “2nd”, “3rd”, “4th” and “5th”. Another group was given the honour of announcing the results. "First place goes to..., second place goes to..., third place goes to...,fourth place goes to...and fifth place goes to…"

Everyone had such a blast learning about ordinal numbers (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th) through our very own F1 Grand Prix! Great job, K1s!

Welcome to Term 4!

This week, the children explored long vowels. Before introducing these, they reviewed short vowels and I was really impressed with their effort! After that, we contrasted long and short vowels with a fun game of sorting words into two groups and the children excelled in this too. Good listening, K1s!

学习之旅：新加坡国家美术馆/ Learning Journey:National Gallery of Singapore

这一周猫头鹰班的孩子们迎来了华文的学习之旅——新加坡国家艺术馆！孩子们都很兴奋可以出游学习，在巴士上孩子们开心的讨论车窗外的车辆和建筑，到了美术馆，工作人员给所有人贴上红色的贴纸，讲解美术馆的注意事项，讲解完后孩子们先去参观了“未来车”，这间房间里有许多充满想像力的交通工具，车有翅膀可以飞，也可以有桨在水里划，车也可以当作房子住在天空中，这些充满有趣的作品触发了猫头鹰班孩子们的想像力，孩子们跃跃欲试想要制作属于自己的未来车。接着我们进入到第二个房间“爱的森林”，孩子们开心极了，这是一个充满绿色的、自由放松的国度，这里有懒散的大鱼和张牙舞爪的八爪鱼，它们和平的生活在同一片大海里，森林里所有的动物都和谐相处，同时你也可以看到熊先生一家丰富的晚餐，也可以发现可爱的小鱼用它的鳍支着木棍和熊在一起散步......爱与和平充满了整个房间，孩子们在惊奇的同时也感受到了爱与和平的重要性。半天的学习之旅虽然短暂，孩子们和老师、家长却学到了很多，每个孩子都是一个艺术家，我们需要做的就是给予每个孩子适当的鼓励和引导。最后谢谢每个积极参与这次学习之旅的孩子和家长，我们都很享受，期待下一次的学习之旅。

The K1 Owl class took a Chinese Learning Journey trip to the National Gallery of Singapore. The children were all excited for the trip and were chattering with one another on the way to the Gallery. On arrival at the Gallery, we were given stickers as well as safety instructions. 

The first room that we explored was the 'Futuristic' room. We saw many creative designs of futuristic cars and houses. The children ignited their creativity in this section. Next, we went on to the 'Jungle' room. The children were happily roaming around the room looking at the beautiful animals. As the children explored the room, they could feel the love and tranquillity from the art pieces. 

Although it was a short Learning Journey experience, the children enjoyed it tremendously. Thank you parent volunteers for helping out this Learning Journey, We are all looking forward to the next one!

美丽的彩虹/The beautiful rainbow

这学期的活动主题是：“大自然”，今天的教学活动是：“美丽的彩虹”。让幼儿认识彩虹是半圆形的，由七种颜色组成的，简单说出彩虹颜色的变化，幼儿一起欣赏歌曲：《彩虹的约定》，最后大家一起制作手工作品：《美丽的彩虹》。

The theme for this term is 'Nature'. The activity for Mathematics today is 'The beautiful rainbow'. The children learnt that the shape of the rainbow is a semi-circle. They also learnt the 7 colours of the rainbow. We sang along to the song <The rainbow's promise>. Lastly, we created our own <Beautiful Rainbow>.
