Float /Sink
Why do boats float? Why do bowling balls sink? The children pondered…
During discussion, the children came up with some reasons why things float and sink. These included:
1. The buoyancy of an object depends on the material it is made of.
2. Air will make an object float.
3. An object with a heavy mass will sink.
After our discussion, the children performed a simple ‘float or sink’ experiment. They searched excitedly around the classroom, looking for items. They were curious to find out which objects float, and which sink.
First, we predicted whether the objects would float or sink. Then, we carried out our experiment. Finally, we recorded our findings.
The little scientists in class had great fun!

ExtremeWeather
What are some examples of extreme weather around the world?
During our discussion this week, the children identified some extreme weather conditions such as flood, storm, drought and tornadoes. We discussed the characteristics of each of these weather conditions. We even dramatized different weather scences!
Meteorologists study weather patterns and they warn people about terrible weather conditions. Some of the children aspired to be a meteorologist too!
During cookery, we made tasty tornado prata strips. We seasoned these delicious strips with cinnamon and garlic powder. Yummy!

Sentosa Sandsation
Our Sandsational Singapore (Singapore, Ho Say!) will feature 15 sand sculptures inspired by life in Singapore. These sand artworks have been inspired by local colloquialisms such as “Blur like Sotong”, “Jiak Zua” and “So Wayang” and provide a whimsical look at everyday Singaporean life.

Good Game Experience (GGXP) 10
Win or lose, let’s all say “GG!” and keep on striving to improve our game (and of course, crush our opponents in the next clash). The Good Game Experience (GGXP) is the “G” of STGCC – serving as home base to our gaming fans. This year, we’re dedicating an entire hall for the gaming scene at STGCC and things are just about to get savage! There’ll be tears, sweat, roars of “Nice lah!” and of course, plenty of salt and kappa.
