Constellations

During Music and Movement this week, the children sang and danced to the song ‘Miss Mary Mac’. They created simple movements to accompany the lyrics, put together all the actions, and showcased a simple performance at the end. Their performance was entertaining!

During Integrated Learning, we learnt about constellations. The children learnt that constellations are groups of stars that form patterns in the sky. Some popular constellations include The Big Dipper, Ursa Major, and Orion. After learning all about the shining stars, the children created their very own constellation by using star cut-outs and connecting them together. They gave interesting names to their constellations too!

For those of you who are going down to the Science Centre Observatory today to check out the stars, see you there!

第二周 / Week 2

本周，我们继续围绕有趣的植物展开活动，小朋友们讨论了保护植物的重要性和方法，认识了几种常见的热带树木，学习了相关的量词和形容词，书写了词语“树林”等，大家还制作了美丽的大树，感受每人“种”一棵树就会变成一片“树林”的道理。此外，我们还一起认识时间，制作手表。

This week, we continued to learn all about interesting plants. The children discussed about the importance of protecting plants and the ways of protecting them. Then, they learnt the names of some common tropical trees. The children used quantitative phrases as well as descriptive phrases to describe these trees. They wrote words such as 'forest' and then made a tree craft. They understood that if each of us in the class plants a tree, we will create a forest together! We also learnt to tell the time and made a watch craft.

Afternoon nap

I have fever this Friday night.Sunday night I went to see doctor Raffles Medical Group at Tampines One last patient 9.30pm No 1403 high fever40*.Insert into my buttock(medicine).Get better but sometime tummy pain and throwing out. My goodness my favourite food have funny taste, I don't feel like to eat anything especially my na-na.
Ah Ma put me in the baby pram and I fell asleep. (For long time I never take nap in the day).

First week of Term 2

The children welcomed the new term with new and interesting discoveries!

Discovery of the world: The children were amazed to learn that the Earth is tilted and has an imaginary axis. The Earth’s rotation on its axis causes day and night to occur. The part of the Earth facing the sun will experience day, and the part facing away will experience night. We did a simple experiment in class using a globe and a torch to better understand this concept.

Ask your child what they learnt about day and night today!

Language and literacy: The children created a poster illustrating day and night. They accompanied their illustrations with descriptive sentences. They used inventive spelling while writing their sentences and did a really good job.

Cookery: We baked some star cheese puffs. The children were in love with this delicious snack and could not stop asking for more! They rolled the dough, cut out star shapes from the flattened dough and grated some cheese. It was a really fun session and we can’t wait until the next one!

本周，我们进入了交通工具的主题，小朋友们通过游戏认识了与交通工具有关的字词，还一起读故事、唱歌和写字，除此之外，他们还对怎样做问卷调查产生了浓厚兴趣，在互相访问调查中，他们学会了句子：“你是怎么来学校的？”

This week, we learnt about transportation. Through games, the children learnt names of transport vehicles. We read a story, sang songs as well as did writing activities. In addition, the children also did a survey with their friends. They asked questions such as, 'How did you come to school?'

第二学期第一周

本周，我们进入了植物的主题，小朋友们通过故事、歌曲学习了树的不同部位名称，了解了植物的生长过程，认识了树桩与年轮等等。我们一起用身体表现树的不同部位，小朋友们结合肢体动作之后更加清晰认识了树叶、树枝、树干和树根这些词语。我们还玩小种子长大的游戏，有人扮演种子，有人扮演洒水壶，有人扮演太阳，“小种子们”在“水”和“太阳”的照顾下慢慢成长。

Tooth Fairy

Putting a tooth under a pillow sounds soft and sweet, but it also sounds kind of boring. What about tossing those teeth around? In some Asian countries, that’s just what they do.

Historically, kids who lose teeth from their lower jaw will throw their teeth onto their roof, while upper jaw teeth go on the floor or even under it (the idea is the new tooth will be pulled towards the old tooth). That’s not all, though, because as the tooth-losing kiddo tosses their teeth, they sometimes yell out a wish that the missing tooth be replaced by the tooth of a mouse. Nope, mice (and other rodents) just have teeth that continually grow, which sounds like a wise request when one goes missing.

第十周1 / Week 10 part 1

上周，我们围绕“我爱运动”的主题，开展了一系列的活动：
语言方面：我们学习认读与肢体运动有关的字词和短句，如我爱运动，我会走、我会跳、我会倒立、我会跨跳等，还认识了解了足字旁，感受了足字旁的字多数与脚有关，除此之外我们还学习了儿歌《拍皮球》。
音乐律动方面：我们跟随音乐《我爱律动》舞动身体，创编舞蹈动作的同时锻炼了身体。
体育方面：我们通过热身运动感受不同动作对身体不同部位肌肉的拉伸效果，通过不同的游戏如身体倒立、钻洞、匍匐前进、跨栏等强化他们对这些动作词语的认识。
艺术方面：我们通过折剪贴的形式创意设计了做各种运动的小朋友。

The theme for last week was 'I love to exercise'. We engaged in many activities based on this theme.

Language: We learnt vocabulary that was associated with exercise. The children were able to speak in sentences such as 'I love to exercise', 'I can walk', 'I can jump', 'I can do handstands', 'I can leap', etc. We learnt about the prefix 足 and we understood that this prefix is associated with 'legs' in words. In addition, we sang the song <Bouncing Ball>.

Music and movement: We created our own dance moves while moving to the music of <I love to exercise>. It was a great workout!

Motor skills development: Through stretching exercises, we learnt that different stretching postures help to stretch different muscles in our body. Through games, the children learnt many mandarin words relating to exercise.

Art: Through folding, cutting and pasting, we created pictures of little children exercising.
