This week’s theme is "Cars". Our teacher read a story, "My Cars." We discussed different parts of a car, like the engine, a seat, a seat belt, a steering wheel, four wheels, a breaking light and the headlights. We then watched a video clip on "A Petrol Station." We talked about the services provided at a petrol station, such as the Filling Gasoline Station, a Car Washing Area and a Pumping Tyres Station. On the next activity, we designed our very own cars on the board. Our interest in cars escalated when we created cars with boxes and paper plates. We made three cars and a petrol station. We loved role playing with the cars.
我们一起庆祝中秋节,制作月饼,学习并了解有关中秋节的相关知识。It is the Mid-Autumn Festival. We made some mooncakes at cookery lesson today. We discussed about the ingredients and the process of making the mooncake. We also learnt about the history/ story of the Mid-Autumn Festival.
This week, we learnt about Addition (adding 1 more). We had to say out loud, "1 square + 1 more square makes 2 squares" and counted the total numbers of squares. We had fun drawing the squares on the board. We then used concrete materials (Unifix Cubes) for the activity. Everyone had a chance to count the unifix cubes to get the answers. We were so good at both the counting and addition games.
This week's theme is "Transportation." At the beginning of the new term, we started off revising all of the letters and sounds that we had learnt so far. We also played the blending sound game, whereby we had to blend 3 letters to make up a word. Everyone did very well in the game and we were proud of ourselves. In our next activity, we were divided into 2 groups. The first group had to trace the capital and lower case of the alphabet. The second group read a storybook with our teacher (Guided Reading). The groups then switched over activities. During the Guided Reading Session with our teacher, we were introduced to the title and the author of the book. We had to go through the book again 3 times. Firstly, our teacher talked about the pictures on every page (Picture Talk). We discussed the beginning , middle and the ending of the story. Secondly, we read the story with our teacher by pointing out with our fingers. Lastly, we read the book by ourselves. Good Job to everyone for reading it so well during our very first Guided Reading Session!
