Little Red Riding Hood

This week, Little Red Riding Hood, Little Red Riding Hood’s grandma, the woodcutter and the Big Bad Wolf all came to our school for a visit! The children watched them perform in the play area, and they were hilarious! 

This week’s activities centred upon Little Red Riding Hood. Some activities included:

1. Speech and Drama: First, the children dramatised the story. Next, they walked down the ‘Road of Conscience’ and had Little Red Riding Hood make wiser decisions than she originally had. Then, they interviewed Little Red Riding Hood. Here were some of the questions and answers from the interview: 
Q: Why does your grandma live so far away from your house?
A: She enjoys Mother Nature, and the silence.
Q: Why didn’t your mother accompany you when you went to visit your Grandma?
A: She needed to do some housework, and we do not have a helper at home.

2. Mathematics: Revisiting the concept of time, the children came up with a timeline whereby Little Red Riding Hood left her house, met the wolf, and arrived at her grandma’s house. 

3. Mandarin: The children discussed some possible food items that may have been found in Little Red Riding Hood’s basket. Some items included noodles, sushi, cake, and soup. They drew these food items on small pieces of paper and played a game of ‘Snap’ with them. 

4. The children ended the week by creating an origami basket.

Farewell, Little Red Riding Hood! Till we meet again…
