This term, the children will spend their time meaningfully engaging in many interesting activities. Some of these interesting activities will include the Primary School visit, Art for Charity, Racial Harmony celebration and concert preparation.

During reading programme this week, the children read the book ‘Food’ by Barbara Armstrong. They classified food in these following ways:
1. Food from animals
2. Food from the sea
3. Food from the land
During our group discussion, the children were able to identify that beef is the meat of the cow, pork is the meat of the pig and mutton is the meat of the sheep. They learnt that some seafood such as salmon and oysters can be grown in fish farms. In addition, some foods from land include fruits, vegetables and grains.

Some target skills that the children learnt while reading the book include:
Content words – butter, cream, fruit, breakfast, carrots, wheat and cereal.
Sight words – the, some, have, eat, are
Punctuation – full stop, comma

As a closure to the activity, the children wrote about what they had learnt from the story.
