Stars
Last night was the perfect night for a date with the stars. The skies were clear and I had an up close encounter with them through the huge telescopes. I saw Planet Jupiter, the Orion Belt, Orion Nebula and the moon through the telescopes.
Mr Albert, the guide, explained to me in great detail how to map the stars in the skies. I saw Orion, Sirius, Canopus, Crux, Virgo, Pleiades, Gemini and Taurus!
Some interesting facts I learnt last night:
1. The light we see from the Orion is 1,300 light years away. That means the light we see now was shone 1,300 years ago from Orion! Blast from the past!
2. The Southern cross, also know as the Crux points to the magnetic South and it is used as a guide for navigators.
3. The Sirius star is the brightest star observed from Earth.
4. Jupiter is part of the Virgo constellation.
5. The 2 lines that we see around Jupiter are actually storms that goes on for hundreds of years!
It was a great evening spent at the Science Centre Observatory.

Constellations
During Music and Movement this week, the children sang and danced to the song ‘Miss Mary Mac’. They created simple movements to accompany the lyrics, put together all the actions, and showcased a simple performance at the end. Their performance was entertaining!
During Integrated Learning, we learnt about constellations. The children learnt that constellations are groups of stars that form patterns in the sky. Some popular constellations include The Big Dipper, Ursa Major, and Orion. After learning all about the shining stars, the children created their very own constellation by using star cut-outs and connecting them together. They gave interesting names to their constellations too!

Week 2
本周，我们继续围绕有趣的植物展开活动，小朋友们讨论了保护植物的重要性和方法，认识了几种常见的热带树木，学习了相关的量词和形容词，书写了词语“树林”等，大家还制作了美丽的大树，感受每人“种”一棵树就会变成一片“树林”的道理。此外，我们还一起认识时间，制作手表。
This week, we continued to learn all about interesting plants. The children discussed about the importance of protecting plants and the ways of protecting them. Then, they learnt the names of some common tropical trees. The children used quantitative phrases as well as descriptive phrases to describe these trees. They wrote words such as 'forest' and then made a tree craft. They understood that if each of us in the class plants a tree, we will create a forest together! We also learnt to tell the time and made a watch craft.

Afternoon nap
Ah Ma put me in the baby pram and I fell asleep. (For long time I never take nap in the day).
