This week, we celebrated 52 years of independence in Singapore! Upon arrival in school, we created a red and white tambourine using paper plates, crepe paper and soy beans. After that, we learnt about why we celebrate National Day in Singapore on August 9 every year. We stood at attention, sang the National Anthem and said the National Pledge.

After our lesson in the classroom, we gathered at the indoor playground with all our friends in school. Amy told us a story about Sang Nila Utama and how he named this sunny island the ‘Lion City’. Roar! After the story telling session, we did a short dance performance for our friends with the tambourines that we made.

It was a fun day of celebrating Singapore’s birthday in school. We love Singapore!
